Nothing exciting today. We planned on going to Kalamazoo, MI today, but didn’t leave the hotel until noon. We were both still tired, so we only made it as far as Fort Wayne, IN before stopping.
We decided to splurge and got a hotel with a hot tub and pool. It was nice to go for a swim and a soak after riding such a boring stretch of road.
We took US-23 out of Columbus. It was very painful with lots of traffic and stoplights. It took over an hour to go 30 miles. From US-23 we took US-30 west. US-30 is almost straight and goes through some pretty empty country. We both struggled to stay awake after the second hour.
Just a bunch of farms and the occasional group of trees to look at. The nice part was trucks were restricted to 55mph, and there wasn’t many of them to worry about.
We only rode 196 miles today. The weather was nice and cooperative again. We rode in near 90F all day with almost clear blue skies. I hope this trend continues for the rest of the trip.
We found this giant bug on our window:

You're getting closer and closer!
ReplyDeleteNice praying mantis on your window.
ReplyDeleteI've been playing with Google Latitude after seeing it on your blog. Are you going to continue using it after your trip?
Richard
Keith: LOL. The view was just a bit too relaxing for us. ;)
ReplyDeleteSharon: Yes! Less than 200 miles now.
Richard: I've only seen pictures; it was interesting to see one in real life.
I'm thinking about it. Not sure. I may change the public badge to just city. Might remove it and just leave it on my phone/friends. Haven't had time to think about it yet. What do you think of it so far?
Well I think it was worth getting the pool and spa treatment! I could use a little of that right now!! Got to go on a fun ride today but it is still HOT HOT HOT!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Praying Mantis like marshmallows??? Here is a link to a post I did on that subject from last summer. When you two have nothing better to do check it out and have a good laugh!!!

Dear Chris:
ReplyDeleteIf you were in Manhattan, that would have been a roach on the window.

Eve: ROFL! What a great post! I wish I could have opened the window and played with it now. They had lucky charms at breakfast, so an endless supply of sugar for the little guy.
ReplyDeleteJack: Yes, probably. In Minnesota it would have been a mosquito. Probably the same size too.
