Last week was First Thursday at Dulono’s in Minneapolis. It was the first time I’ve been there since July. The weather was perfect which drew larger than average crowds for this time of year. October didn’t disappoint as there was lots of interesting bikes to look at.
I had a really great time catching up with friends I haven’t seen for a while and meeting some new ones. Now on with the bike porn!
A custom trike conversion. The owner spent the first 30 minutes after arrival polishing the chrome.
Not exactly a motorcycle, but licensed as one since things with three-wheels are motorcycles in Minnesota. It’s powered by the 1400cc engine from a Kawasaki ZX-14R. I heard rumor it might have a turbo or supercharger too. It’d be fun to ride in it I’m sure.
Nice job on the matching Givi luggage too
beautiful Royal Enfield sidecar
Another custom three-wheeler
Did I mention there were a lot of people? Not thousands like in July – maybe just 1,000.
an old Norton
A 1967 V7 Motto Guzzi for sale. The sign said it was the first V-twin year.
My SV lurking in the background
Another Norton. This one was hard to photograph since there were ten other people dancing around it with cameras too.
This bike would match Bobskoot’s crocs. The hello kitty on the pillion seat is a nice touch.
Old triumph
MV Agusta
A super moto. I’m tempted get a set of supermoto wheels (WR250X wheels specifically) on my WR250R. They look like lots of fun.
I thought this was ugly enough it needed a photo
Local Ducati club meeting under the popup tent
I like the paintjob on this bike – the painted stretched leather looks neat. The rest of the bike isn’t really for me. Too much work to polish all that chrome!
Another sidecar
TWO RZ350s… I’d like to ride one someday.
Decent looking sporty
After dark a number of the bikes turned on their lights. It looked like Christmas lights there were so many. We just needed some snow and a spruce tree.
Another fun time at First Thursday. I think it’ll be a bit more lonely next month.
That still looks like a huge turnout. And thank you for all the bike shots. That is an interesting looking silver three-wheeler. There are a number of new Royal Enfield sidecar rigs around here since we actually have a dealer in town.
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like a cool gathering.
ReplyDeleteNow - if i were incapable of riding a 2 wheeled motorcycle anymore... TRex might be the way to go :)
Chris,
ReplyDeleteNice. I particularly like the trike/bike build, nice catch on the Givi bags. I wonder if it's more comfortable then a Concours? I don't think it would take all that much to match. I could only what a supercharged zx-14 motor would do on a car/bike that probably weighs as much as a bag of apples. Fun, I think, is an understatement.
Cool show.

RichardM: A good turnout considering it was october, but about half than the months previous. I suspect it will be sparse in Nov. Wow a royal enfield dealer all the way up there? cool!
ReplyDeleteFuzzy: The TRex is one way to go, but I'd probably stick with motorcycle and sidecar. I find them more fun than a trike. I still need to try a spyder though.
Brady: I rode a Concours 1100 and wasn't impressed at all, so it'd be easy to be more comfortable than that haha. I have to agree, the motor would be a blast! I'm sure it sounds nice too. A shame the owner wasn't around to fire it up. A bag of red delicious for sure, but probably not a bag of galas.
Dear Chris:
ReplyDeleteI love event coverage like this... Looking at your pictures of the bikes is the next best thing to being there.
Fondest regards,

Twisted Roads
Dear Jack: Thanks Jack. It was a fun time. We'll have to see how small the crowd is next week now that the weather is colder.
