The riding the last few days has been fantastic. It's been cool in the mornings (30Fs) and then warm in the afternoons (50Fs). I’ve been mainly riding my WR250R and SV650 with the Ural finally getting to rest.
Earlier this week I finally received my new camera. I ordered over a month ago. First, I had to wait for it to be replaced, and then I waited for the backorder. My new camera is a: Canon EOS Rebel T2i. It has been quite fun learning how to use it and I hope my overall picture quality will improve with a more capable camera. I also need to finish reading the inch thick manual!
Here are a few shots I took this morning on the way in. For contrast, you can look at the same shots from Feb 10 here. No snow anymore, and not quite all green grass yet either.
On the way home, I stopped on the river bluff just to the South of downtown St. Paul and captured these two shots, and the pic of my SV650 at the beginning. Click on any of the images for a full 18MP version.
I’ve been spending a lot of time riding and trying to figure out my two cameras. I’ve easily put a few hundred miles on both the WR and the SV in the last ten days.
Chris, love the pics with your new toy. Yes, embrace the manual. I read and re-read and always find new insights in the manual. I'm so loving your pics of the SV. Spring has sprung here--sort of. I've had some lovely early morning rides before work to catch the sun rise.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your new pics and trips!
I recognize some of those locations, I think! You were up at Indian Mounds Park, right?
ReplyDeleteDear Chris:
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new camera and nice pictures today.

Sojourner: Thanks. I'm glad you are also getting out on two-wheels! I am also looking forward to my trips!
ReplyDeleteRogers: The two sunrise pics were taken behind the Capitol just North of downtown St. Paul. The rest with the river were taken South of downtown near the top of the Smith Ave bridge. Indian Mounds Park is east of downtown. I'll get some pics from there soon for you.
Jack: Thank you.

ReplyDeleteI'm loosing it. I thought I made a comment but it disappeared
I too was looking at the T2i as a carry about with one lens but I am torn between a still camera and a full out 1080p videocam

Bob: I had the same questions on my head about a still with video or just a video. For me, I needed a better camera as I was finally discovering the limitations of my tiny little point-n-shoot. The video of the t2i is pretty descent, but lacks the easy, long range zoom of a dedicated camera. I think I'll eventually get a 1080p video camera, but the T2i and the GoPro will get me by until then.

ReplyDeleteI usually keep my cameras current, mostly Nikon. First the D70, then the D80, I didn't want the D90, but the D700 was too much and I wanted video. In the end for my Hawai'i trip I settled for a Lumix ZS3 with 720p and 12x zoom. I wanted something for my pocket and my Canon G10 was my backup camera. Now I am looking for a true 1080p camcorder but may settle for the new Sony HX5 with 1080i, it also has HDR mode which is nice, as well as scanning Panoramic mode. I have to hold one first to see how it feels, otherwise I may just pick up a cheap 1080p such as the Sony CX110. I want it before I start my road trips later this year for OFF bike video

Bob: The Sony CX110 looks pretty decent with a 25X zoom. It's cheaper than getting a good zoom lense for the T2i! Are your trips taking you near Minnesota this year?
ReplyDeleteChris - it seems strange to see pictures of a different bike to the Ural. I have got so used to seeing your pictures with one type of bike and then, pow, its gone. Do they get jealous when left at home?
ReplyDeleteGary: It's spring now! The Ural is fun, but a very different ride from my two wheelers. The rest of the bikes can come out of hibernation. I don't think they get jealous as they almost all get used every week when the snow and salt are gone.
