Earlier in June, I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to
ride a superbike on a racetrack. The bike was the fabulous
KTM RC8R and the track was
Brainerd International Raceway (
BIR). Here is the video I promised from that day. Enjoy!

Track Day at BIR with KTM on a RC8R
Looks like an absolute blast. I'm still a bit too terrified of myself to get on a bike and rip around the track like that. Maybe in another ten years when I'm starting to get stuffy. By the way, I'm in your state now, I'll even be in your neighborhood soon.

That looked fantastic! I must have missed your original post about this, so I am going to look back now and read it. Is there any sort of bike you don't ride????
ReplyDeleteBrady: It was VERY fun. I started slow and slowly increased my speed as I got comfortable with the track and the bike. Cool. welcome (back) to MN.
ReplyDeleteGary: Thanks! Nope, I haven't found a bike I won't ride at least once :)
Chris,
ReplyDeleteI think eventually I'd like to do it. Probably not before I move to Germany. I don't want to wear a neck brace on the plane ride across the pond.

Brady: Germany is fun. Where are you moving? you could do you track day at the Nürburgring :)
ReplyDeleteIt is great fun to follow your riding adventures. Often I find myself envious. This isn't one of them. But, I suspect you didn't do it for me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the share and keep having these marvelous adventures.

Keith: Thanks Keith. No worries, the track isn't for everyone. I need to have a proper adventure soon. I realized this past week that I've only had a couple "recreational" rides this entire year. I need to correct that!
ReplyDeleteVery fun video! Glad you were able to get the time to edit it up. Didn't mention the 102 degree day in that suit!
ReplyDeleteUnquenchableOne: LOL. I did mention it in the first post, but yea, I forgot and left that part out of the video. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely cool, wish I had a sport bike to do this. I have a friend pushing me to get a dirt bike but then again I love speed and would love to have a sport bike, oh the dilemma ;-)
ReplyDeleteGeorge F: It was a very fun time. I'm glad KTM supplied the bikes too. Sounds like you need to buy two bikes!
ReplyDeleteTwo?? In a perfect world it would have to be 4.
ReplyDeleteAdventure(Yamaha Tenere), a sports bike (track), a dirt bike (weekend fun) and a tourer to go with my wife (Kawasaki Voyager I'm thinking) :-)
